I was born and raised in Northern Nevada. I spent my childhood in Winnemucca, Wells and Lovelock. While in high school in Lovelock I became interested in photography. My grandma was generous enough to buy my dad a 35 mm Canon AE1 for his birthday so that I could take a 4-H class. I used that camera throughout high school for the yearbook and on to the University of Nevada, Reno where I took a photography class. My first passion at that time was teaching, so I went on to get my dual degree in Elementary and Special Education.

In 1990, my new husband, John, and I moved to Elko where I taught Special Education at Northside Elementary. My love of photography continued as I took photos of my children, Christina, Kristopher and Tahoe, as they were growing up. When Kristopher was at Elko High School, I decided I needed to upgrade to digital photography and bought a Canon Rebel. My passion for capturing special family moments exploded.

In 2014, I decided to take a class at GBC and I found I loved photographing everything. There is so much beauty in our little world.  Nevada has a beauty all it’s own.

In 2017, I had the opportunity to retire from my beloved teaching career. It was time to move on to something new.  I decided that something was to take my love of photography to a new level.

I have found so many photos of my extended family since I lost my mother in 2013. It made me realize how very important it is to capture and preserve memories of family. My Great Grandmother, Nonnie, passed on a very important message to all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren- Family is Forever. These two beautiful, strong women are the inspiration for our name- Forever Memories by Cami. Know that our goal is to always preserve precious family memories for future generations.
